DUNEDIN, Fla. – A go-ahead two-run homer by Jakob Goldfarb highlighted a five-run rally Sunday afternoon for the Marauders, who defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays, 13-4, to win the opening series of the season.
The Marauders (2-1) fell behind in the second inning when Jose Ferrer delivered a bases-loaded sacrifice fly for the Blue Jays (1-2), and Adriel Sotolongo hit a two-run homer in the fourth for a 3-0 Dunedin lead.
Blue Jays starter Rafael Ohashi struck out a career-high ten batters and held Bradenton hitless over four innings. But in the fifth, the Marauders surged back against reliever Dahian Santos (0-1). After a Dunedin fielding error and a Luke Brown infield single, a wild pitch allowed both runners to advance. Jacob Gonzalez then beat out an RBI-infield single for the first Marauders run, and when Tsung-Che Cheng followed with an RBI-single to center, center fielder Dasan Brown misplayed the ball, allowing Gonzalez to score the tying run as Cheng reached third base. After a strikeout, Goldfarb launched a 1-0 pitch from Santos over the right field wall for a two-run homer, putting the Marauders in front, 5-3.
