Sunday’s Prospect Performers
Pete Crow-Armstrong, OF, Cubs: Crow-Armstrong has barely gotten to play pro ball so far thanks to the lost 2020 season and then a shoulder injury that cost him almost all of 2021. But when he has played, he’s performed. Crow-Armstrong had his first three-hit game of the season yesterday for Low-A Myrtle Beach. For his career, he’s a .358/.500/.522 pro hitter. Now he just needs to get a lot more than his current 86 career plate appearances.
Jeremy Peña, SS, Astros: Peña’s third home run of the season was a walk-off to straight center field to beat the Blue Jays.
Nolan Gorman, 2B, Cardinals: Gorman hit his eight home run of the young season on Sunday, moving hin into a tie for second place in the minors behind fellow Cardinals’ prospect Moises Gomez’s nine.
Bobby Miller, RHP, Dodgers. The Double-A Springfield lineup roughed up Miller twice this week. The first time came on Tuesday when they knocked him out of the game after just .2 innings. Miller faced just five batters, as long counts meant he was pulled after throwing 31 pitches. Miller lasted three innings on Sunday but the results weren’t any better. Springfield knocked him around for seven hits and five earned runs. Chandler Redmond tripled, Jonah Davis doubled and Pedro Pages homered as part of the onslaught.
