BOSTON – The University at Albany softball’s Katie Falotico was named the America East Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
An Emerson, N.J. native, Falotico led the team with nine RBI, three doubles, and seven hits in a 4-1 week. Contributing to wins over UMass Lowell and Siena, she owned a .467 batting average and .867 slugging percentage. Essential in both wins over UML, she tallied both RBI in a 2-1 win (4/23) with a double and led with three RBI, from a double and a home run, in a 4-1 win (4/24) on senior day. The infielder also led with 35 putouts in the field.
This is Falotico’s first conference award of the season, the third of her career. She was previously named the Player of the Week twice – March 3, 2020, and March 6, 2019.
As a team, this is the third week in a row a Great Dane has earned the Player of the Week honor.
Overall, UAlbany has seen five America East awards on the season – the April 19 Player of the Week (Maranda Jimenez), April 12 Player of the Week (Maranda Jimenez), March 29 Pitcher of the Week (Briana Garrett), and February 22 Player of the Week (Morgan Petty) have preceded Falotico’s honor.
The Great Danes will return to action on Wednesday (April 27), as they travel to Binghamton for a single game.
