Maryland Drops Series Finale Against Michigan State

EAST LANSING, MI – Maryland softball (28-20, 14-6 B1G) dropped its series finale against Michigan State on Sunday, falling by just one run 2-1. Wyche started for the Terps in the circle, allowing two runs on seven hits through five full innings. 

The top of the order accounted for three of four hits on the day, with Megan Mikami, Jaeda McFarland and Mackense Greico each tallying one. 

Breaking Down the Action


For the first time on the weekend, the Spartans got on the board first in the bottom of the second after a sac fly to right brought Catie Ladd home
The Terps answered in the top of the third, with an inside-the-park home run by leadoff hitter Megan Mikami to tie things up 1-1. This marked the first home run for Mikami this season, and the first for the Terps since JoJo McRae in 2019 (3/19/19 over Virginia). 
In the bottom of the following frame, Michigan State took over the lead with a sac fly bringing in a Spartan to put them up 2-1 where they remained 

Maryland will be back in action for its final home series against Ohio State, May 6 – May 8.
