Vinnie Pasquantino, 1B Royals – In a 19-0 rout of Louisville, several players had career days but none like Pasquantino, who went 5-for-7 with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs. The first baseman’s standout season continues as he’s now up to 12 home runs with a 1.034 OPS. Now it’s just a matter of when, not if, the Royals call up Pasquantino.
Eury Perez, RHP Marlins – Do you remember Eury’s first three starts? Do you remember the panic? That fear is long gone, as Perez has dominated over his last last four starts with Double-A Pensacola. After going six scoreless last night against Mississippi, Perez has now allowed just four earned runs over his last four starts, a span of 22 innings. Looks like Eury has settled into the Double-A level.
Brandon Pfaadt, RHP D-Backs – It’s been a very up-and-down season thus far for Pfaadt with Double-A Amarillo, but last night the former fifth-rounder and pride of Bellarmine was locked in. Pfaadt struck out nine while scattering four hits and no walks across seven innings. After two rough starts over his last four turns, hopefully this gets Pfaadt back on track.
Royce Lewis, SS Twins – Back in Triple-A after a strong performance during a two-week stint in the major leagues, Lewis collected three hits last night and connected for his fourth Triple-A home run of the season after slugging a pair in the big leagues. The former No. 1 pick seems to have not missed a beat after a long injury related layoff. Lewis should be back in Minnesota seeing regular opportunities with the big league club shortly.
Anthony Garcia, OF Yankees – A day after hitting a ball 423 feet at 113 mph, the Yankees powerful farmhand hit another home run on Wednesday that went a reported 412 feet at 104 mph. The term tape measure home run is slowly being redefined by the 21-year-old slugger, as he presents more raw power than any minor leaguer this side of the Trey Cabbage patch.
