Tigers name Pappoe and Hall captain, Baird turns 73

The calm before the storm of fall sports is setting in.

As a result of that, quite a few teams are getting things in order. One of those teams is Auburn football, which announced its captains for the 2022 season. On top of that, an Auburn women’s golfer is getting ready to represent her country at an amateur team tournament, the winningest coach in Auburn baseball history celebrates his birthday and Auburn’s multiple-time champion Equestrian team announced the date for its home opener.

Tigers announce their 2022 team captains

The Auburn Tigers have announced their team captains for the 2022 season.

Tight end John Samuel Shenker, linebacker Owen Pappoe and defensive end Derick Hall were announced as the squad’s captains by the team on Tuesday night. Samuel Shenker returns to the team as a senior and its starting tight end, while Pappoe and Hall look to wreak havoc on the defensive side of the ball before possibly committing to the NFL Draft.

Women’s golfer competes for Ireland at World Amateur Team Championships

Auburn athletes competing internationally is nothing new, and the Tigers are set to send another student-athlete across the pond.

Auburn golfer Anna Foster will represent her home country of Ireland in the World Amateur Team Championships beginning Wednesday. The tournament is set to take place in Guyancourt, France, but hopefully you can stay up late — she’ll tee off shortly after 1 a.m CT.

Legendary Auburn coach celebrates birthday

One of Auburn’s legends celebrated his birthday on Tuesday.

Auburn coach Hal Baird turned 73 on Tuesday. Baird managed a 634-328 record in 16 years as head coach at Auburn and was inducted into the American Baseball Association Coaches and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2020.

Auburn’s Equestrian team may have been bounced by Southern Methodist University in the quarterfinal of last year’s championships, but this year’s team will have a fresh slate.
