LSU Baseball: Full 2023 schedule announced

Air Force RHP/C transfer Paul Skenes commits

LSU recently released the baseball schedule for the 2023 season. The campaign gets started with fall ball in November as the Tigers take on McNeese and UL-Lafayette in exhibition matches before having the annual Purple/Gold World Series.

The regular season finally gets underway as the Tigers face a new opponent, Western Michigan on Feb. 14, 2023. This season, LSU will be playing in the ‘Round Rock Classic’ against Kansas State, Iowa, and Sam Houston State on February 24-26 at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. Dell Diamond Stadium is home to the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.

Jay Johnson is entering his second year as the head coach after having a pretty good season last spring that ended in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with a Regional loss to Southern Miss in the Regional Final. The Tigers lost some talent from that team that either transferred or got drafted, but Dylan Crews and Tre Morgan return, and some impact transfers have also joined the squad.

One of the most highly touted transfers in the country, Tommy White, comes to Baton Rouge by way of NC State, where he earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors and broke the NCAA Freshman home run record with 27 homers. The Tigers will be looking to continue the success of last year, but end up in Omaha at the end of the season.
