Wildcats Slated for Three Fall Exhibition Games

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball will put their roster to the test with a three-game fall exhibition schedule next month, one that features two contests hosted at Hi Corbett Field.

The Wildcats will kick off their challenging fall slate with a matchup against Naranjeros de Hermosillo, an international professional baseball team from the Mexican Pacific League. Arizona and Hermosillo will play in the second game of the opening day of the 2022 Mexican Baseball Fiesta at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium. First pitch time is currently TBA and dependent upon the conclusion of game one.

This marks the third time that Arizona has participated in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta after playing to a tie against Hermosillo in the 2018 edition and squaring off against Yaquis de Obregon in 2021.

Following their professional clash with Hermosillo, the Wildcats will round out their fall schedule with a pair of home exhibition contests against Pima Community College and UNLV on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 22, respectively.

The Wildcats, entering their second season under the direction of head coach Chip Hale, look to build on the successes of 2021 that saw the team earn the 41st NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and produced a first round MLB Draft selection. Hale and his coaching staff return a veteran core of players to be complimented by an impressive incoming class of freshmen and transfers. For Arizona’s freshmen, this challenging fall schedule will serve as their introduction to high-level college baseball.
