#StateToTheShow Update: October 7 - Mississippi State

STARKVILLE – Autumn has arrived and with it comes playoff baseball in the Major Leagues.

Mississippi State will have four of its alumni active when playoff action starts on Friday. Seattle Mariners second baseman Adam Frazier and St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Chris Stratton both begin postseason play in the Wild Card round.

Frazier and the Mariners have a best-of-three series with the Toronto Blue Jays while Stratton and the Cardinals are in the same situation against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Buck Showalter’s New York Mets are also participating in the newly expanded Wild Card round. Showalter, who is in his first season managing the Mets, will match wits against the San Diego Padres.

Travis Chapman, who serves as first base coach for the New York Yankees, will be waiting in the Divisional Series to meet the winner of the American League Wild Card series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians.

Two former Diamond Dawg hurlers, Konnor Pilkington and Dakota Hudson, respectively helped the Guardians and Cardinals reach the playoffs this season. Pilkington and Hudson remain on the 40-man roster for those clubs.

In total, MSU had 41 former players competing in professional baseball this year. A total of 10 players and three coaches competed in the Big Leagues during the regular season.

Each week, HailState.com tracks how former Bulldogs are performing from #StateToTheShow.
