Spartan Baseball Announces 2023 Signing Class

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State baseball head coach Jake Boss Jr., announced the first members of the Spartans’ 2023 signing class, signing six players for the 2024 roster.

Five of the six players are natives of the state of Michigan, with the sixth coming to MSU from California.

While more players will be added to the 2023 Michigan State baseball signing class, the first six members of the class include Garrett Brewer (Eau Claire, Mich. / Berrien Springs HS), Gannon Grundman (Howell, Mich. / Hartland HS), Jaxon Huffman (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores HS), Hunter Long (Ladera Ranch, Calif. / Capistrano Valley Christian School), Ryan McKay (Clarkston, Mich. / Orchard Lake St. Mary’s HS) and Gavin Moczydlowsky (“Muzz-uhd-lau-ski”) (New Boston, Mich. / New Boston Huron HS).

Of the six players who have signed with the Spartans for the 2023 class so far, five of the six are pitchers and the sixth is an infielder.

“We are extremely excited to add this new group of Spartans to our baseball family here at Michigan State,” Boss said. “Our recruiting coordinator, Coach Sikes, and our pitching coach, Coach VanAmeyde, have worked tirelessly to put this class together and have done a tremendous job on the recruiting trail. This class is very balanced with a stable of arms that have a chance at contributing immediately, combined with position players who fit the mold of toughness that has become synonymous with a Spartan baseball player. This group is full of young men who are winners on the field, winners in the classroom, and winners in their community; it will be exciting to watch their progress as they continue to chase their dreams here at Michigan State.”
