The Boston Red Sox reportedly added some much-needed outfield depth to their roster on Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, Boston signed outfielder Greg Allen to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

Allen, 29, started his MLB career with Cleveland in 2017 and spend three-and-a-half seasons there before being traded to the San Diego Padres in 2020. Over the last two years, he has bounced between the minors and majors while playing for the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates.

With the Pirates in 2022, Allen hit .186 with two homers and eight stolen bases in 46 games.
