Bainton Field is preparing for a makeover

Dellquan Warren committed to Rutgers basketball on Friday.

Bainton Field is preparing for a makeover with the baseball season getting closer by the hour. The home of the Scarlet Knights is only weeks away from welcoming fans and players back to a brand-new experience at the ballpark.

In 2023, new lights will arrive at the Scarlet Knight’s home. Rutgers will play home games at night for the first time at Bainton Field. However, that is not the only addition coming to Piscataway.

A brand-new scoreboard will be going in right field, improving the fan experience. They are additions that head coach Steve Owens is looking forward to.

The news look to the baseball stadium marks yet another victory for Pat Hobbs, the Rutgers athletic director.

“This will allow us tremendous flexibility for practice and games year-round as well as providing our growing fan base a much better experience to watch Big Ten baseball,” Owens said.

Spots for the light posts have already been marked, and fans can start marking their calendars to see their favorite players take the field. Bainton Field opened in 2007 and has been an unlucky place for opponents.

Over the last 16 years, the Scarlet Knights have posted a 191-115-1 record at home. That comes out to a .629 winning percentage. During the 2022 campaign, Rutgers went 19-5 at home. In 2023 they will be looking to continue their success and make the NCAA Tournament.
