UNC Tabbed No. 12 In DI Baseball Preseason Poll


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC is ranked No. 12 in the 2023 DI Baseball preseason Top 25 poll, marking the Tar Heels’ third top 15 appearance in a preseason poll.
 
UNC also received preseason top 15 rankings from Collegiate Baseball (No. 11) and Perfect Game (No. 13).
 
North Carolina is the ACC’s second-highest ranked team in the DI Baseball preseason poll behind No. 6 Wake Forest.
 
UNC and WFU are two of the seven ACC teams ranked in the poll along with No. 14 Virginia Tech, No. 16 Louisville, No. 19 Virginia, No. 21 NC State and No. 22 Miami.
 
North Carolina finished the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 42-22, winning the program’s second ACC title in the last three seasons (excluding the shortened 2020 season) and advancing to its 10th Super Regional.
 
The Tar Heels return 17 letterwinners from their 2022 ACC championship team, including Third Team All-America outfielder Vance Honeycutt. UNC also welcomes 18 newcomers, consisting of 12 freshmen and six transfers, to the squad.
 
The Tar Heels are currently immersed in their preseason group workouts and conditioning drills in advance of their first official team practice on January 27.
 
The 2023 season begins on February 17 as UNC host Seton Hall at Boshamer Stadium. Season tickets are on sale at GoHeels.com.
