Diamond Heels Ranked No. 17 In Baseball America Preseason Poll


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With the official start of team practice for the 2023 season just a few days away, Baseball America revealed its preseason top 25 poll Monday and tabbed North Carolina No. 17.
 
In addition to today’s poll, the Diamond Heels have been ranked No. 11 by Collegiate Baseball, No. 12 by DI Baseball and No. 13 by Perfect Game. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the USA Today Coaches poll have not yet been released.
 
North Carolina is one of seven ACC ranked by Baseball America along with No. 5 Louisville, No. 8 Miami, No. 9 Wake Forest, No. 13 Virginia Tech, No. 19 Virginia and No. 25 NC State.
 
UNC is coming off a 42-22 year in 2022 that included an ACC and NCAA Regional Championship. The Diamond Heels return 17 lettermen, including its top three home runs hitters and run producers: Vance Honeycutt, Mac Horvath and Alberto Osuna. The trio combined for 63 home runs and 167 RBIs last season.
 
The Diamond Heels will open the 2023 season at home against Seton Hall on Feb. 17. Season tickets are on sale at GoHeels.com.
