Rutgers baseball to honor 1993 A-10 Championship team this season

Drew Conover is ready to make an impact for Rutgers baseball

On Monday, Rutgers baseball announced on social media that they would be honoring their 1993 Atlantic 10 Championship team with new modern classic uniforms this upcoming season.

In 1993, top-seeded Rutgers defeated West Virginia 7-6 to earn the Atlantic 10’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Rutgers victory marked the sixth time the Scarlet Knights won the Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship.

Rutgers outfielder Doug Alongi won the Most Outstanding Player Award for the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers left the Atlantic 10 Conference to join the Big East after the 1995 season.

Now, 30 years removed from that championship team, Rutgers will be honoring that group.

During the 1993 NCAA Baseball Tournament, Rutgers lost to Clemson 7-3 in the first-round Mideast Regional matchup, ending the Scarlet Knights’ season.

Rutgers baseball has been working with Adidas Dugout, focusing on honoring this prestigious team for their 2023 season. The Scarlet Knights will introduce these 2023 modern classic uniforms when their season begins on February 17th at Campbell University.
