Blue Devils Ranked in Two National Preseason Polls

DURHAM – Duke softball was ranked in the top-25 of two national preseason polls the organizations announced Tuesday.

The Blue Devils came in at No. 15 in the Softball America preseason poll, while ESPN.com/USA Softball ranked Duke 19th nationally. Only three ACC opponents finished ahead of Duke in the polls, with Florida State at No. 17/4, Clemson at No. 12/10 and Virginia Tech at No. 9/11, respectively.

Head Coach Marissa Young brings back 14 members of last year’s team that collected a 44-11 (19-3 ACC) record and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history. In addition, six new faces are set to take the field this season for the Blue Devils in five freshmen and one transfer sophomore.

Duke opens the 2023 season at the Mark Campbell Invitational, presented by Premier Girls Fastpitch, in Irvine, Calif., on Feb. 9-11. The Blue Devils are slated to face three opponents, all of which were ranked in both polls, with games against reigning back-to-back National Champion Oklahoma, Washington and Stanford.
