Arkansas one of four teams with multiple players on All-SEC first team

Tygart earns third All-American honor

Arkansas pitcher Brady Tygart and infielder Peyton Stovall had already earned All-American honors this winter. On Tuesday, the duo was named first-team All-SEC.

Stovall, a sophomore who was Arkansas’ primary first baseman last year, was penned into the first-team second basman spot. He arrived at Arkansas two years ago as a middle infielder and spent most of the offseason transitioning to that position.

He hit .295/.373/.425 last year, but broke out in the NCAA Tournament when he slashed .429/.451/.571 as one of the most highly-recruited freshmen in the country.

Tygart spent most of last season as Arkansas’ closer. He struck out 51 batters in 37 2/3 innings and limited opponents to a .212 batting average. Tygart was named to the Freshman All-SEC team and a Freshman All-American by three different national publications.

Arkansas was one of four teams who that placed two on the coaches’ first-team. Florida, LSU and Tennessee were the others.
