SEATTLE – No. 11 Washington softball closes out four straight weekends on the road at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix. Over the three days, the Huskies will face Michigan State, Boise State, New Mexico, Charlotte and Grand Canyon at GCU Softball Stadium.
Washington enters the weekend with a record of 13-3. The Huskies are 12th in the nation in scoring, averaging 7.38 runs per game, which ranks second amongst conference teams. Along the way, the UW pitching staff has recorded eight shutouts – ranking fourth in the nation. The Huskies are batting .314 as a team while holding opponents to a .207 average. Washington has tallied 49 extra base hits.

30 SEASONS OF WASHINGTON SOFTBALL
2023 marks the 30th season of Washington softball. The Huskies first year as a program was in 1993. Head coach Heather Tarr has been a part of 24 of 30 seasons in the Purple and Gold as a player, manager and coach.
THE LAST TIME OUT
Washington came out of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a record of 4-1 with the lone loss coming to #18 Kentucky in extra innings. Junior pitcher Kelley Lynch opened up the tournament with her first career no-hitter against Bethune-Cookman. Along the way, Lynch struck out a season-high 13 strikeouts.
Freshman catcher Sydney Stewart led the team with a .571 average with four hits and three RBI. Baylee Klingler had a team-high 10 hits while driving in four. Madison Huskey recorded thee home runs over the five game to bring her team-leading total up to six on the season.
