Cal Set For Second Of Six Midweek Games This Season

BERKELEY – The California softball team steps out of Pac-12 Conference action for its second midweek matchup of the season against Fresno State on Wednesday at Levine-Fricke Field.
First pitch between the Golden Bears and Bulldogs is set for 2 p.m. and admission is free.

  • Teams: Cal (18-6) vs. Fresno State (8-13)
  • Location: Levine-Fricke Field: Berkeley, California
  • First pitch: Wednesday: 2 p.m.



  • Fresno State leads the all-time series 66-52.
  • Cal won both matchups a year ago at the DeMarini Invitational at Stanford, 6-0, on Feb. 25 and 10-0 (5) on Feb. 26.


  • Cal took down No. 2 UCLA on March 11, an 8-0 run-rule victory in five-innings for its first win over a top-5 team since the 2012 season, a three-game sweep of No. 3 Washington March 30-April 2, 2012, in Berkeley.   
  • The Bears lead the Pac-12 Conference and are 12th in the NCAA with 41 doubles.
  • Cal averages 1.46 home runs per game, which ranks seventh in the country and second in the Pac-12. The Bears are also second in the conference with 35 home runs, trailing only ASU (38).
  • Cal’s 80 extra base hits (35 HR, 41 2B, 4 3B) lead the Pac-12.  
  • The Bears check in at No. 23 in this week’s NCAA RPI ratings, its highest standing since the 2018 season.
  • Kacey Zobac is tied for the Pac-12 lead with eight doubles.
  • Mika Lee leads the Bears with a .393 batting average and had a 10-game hit streak snapped against No. 2 UCLA on Sunday.
  • Tatum Anzaldo has been on a tear since returning to the lineup on March 3 against Miami (Ohio), going 11-for-26 (.423).
  • Makena Smith is tied for third in the Pac-12 with eight home runs.
  • Lee (.393), D’Asha Saiki (.370), Zobac (.361), Smith (.333) and Sophie Medellin (.313) are all above .300 to lead the Bears offensively.  
  • Anzaldo (.395), a 2022 first-team All-Conference selection, hasn’t had enough plate appearances to qualify for official stats after missing 10 games earlier this season.
