SEATTLE – No. 8 Washington picked up its 21st win of the season in a 7-1 victory over UNLV on Tuesday afternoon at Husky Softball Stadium.
UNLV brought in the first run of the game on an RBI double from Denise Armendariz, their lone hit of the contest.
The Huskies (21-4) tied the game on heads up base running from Brooklyn Carter in the third, which was highlighted by a pair of stolen bases for the freshman.
A hit by pitch for Kinsey Fiedler and four hits from Baylee Klingler, Madison Huskey, Sami Reynolds and Sydney Stewart saw the Huskies’ lead to three. Avery Hobson brought in the fourth run of the inning on a sacrifice fly.
In the sixth, Jadelyn Allchin came in to pinch-hit and sent her second home run of the season, a two-run shot, out to right field.
The combination of Kelley Lynch and Ruby Meylan were able to retire the final five Rebels to secure the 7-1 victory. Lynch picked up her fifth win after tossing seven innings with one run allowed, three walks and nine strikeouts. Meylan tossed the final frame with three strikeouts.
Washington returns to Pac-12 play when they travel to No. 3 UCLA for a three-game series beginning on Friday.
