Softball Preview: #2/5 Tennessee Set to Face Austin Peay in Midstate Classic


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Second-ranked Tennessee softball is set to take on Austin Peay in Columbia, Tennessee, for the Midstate Classic – a neutral site matchup set for 6:30 p.m. ET at the Ridley Sports Complex.

MIDSTATE CLASSIC
Wednesday marks the seventh time Tennessee has played in the Midstate Classic, which began in 2014. Last season, the Lady Vols defeated Memphis 8-4 in Columbia.
 
SEC HONORS
Following Tennessee’s sweep of Ole Miss last weekend, senior Kiki Milloy and freshman Karlyn Pickens garnered SEC Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week accolades, respectively. It is the first weekly honor for Milloy this season, while Pickens has now won freshman of the week three weeks in a row – becoming the first Lady Vol in program history to win the award three times.
 
PITCHING PROWESS
The Lady Vols pitching staff has been among the nation’s best this season, sporting an NCAA-best 0.60 ERA. UT also ranks second nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio with a mark of 7.90.
 
Additionally, Tennessee’s staff has thrown a perfect game (Pickens vs. App State) and a no-hitter (Ashley Rogers vs. Ole Miss) this season.
