Utah Softball Occupies No. 25 Spot in ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll

OKLAHOMA CITY – One day after learning they’d taken possession of the No. 23 spot in the D1Softball.com poll, the University of Utah softball team found itself ranked in a second national poll, as the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll placed the Utes at No. 25. Utah also continues to receive votes in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll.

This marks the first time since March 3, 2020 Utah has made an appearance in this poll. In that instance, they were also ranked No. 25.

The Utes garnered this recognition on the strength of a 19-4 record, their best start to a season since they were 21-4 in 2017 and their sweep of Oregon State makes them the only team undefeated in Pac-12 play after the first weekend. The Utes will try and carry that momentum into a week that starts with a Wednesday evening matchup at BYU that will begin at 6 p.m. before starting a road series at Arizona on Friday in Tuscon, Ariz.

Utah is one of six schools representing the Pac-12 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball rankings, with UCLA owning the highest spot in third, followed by Stanford at No. 7 and Washington at No. 8. The Arizona Wildcats own the 18th position with Oregon one spot behind them. The Oklahoma Sooners, who received all 25 first-place votes, own the top spot.
