THE MATCHUP

• For the second straight weekend, Miami will play a top-25 ACC foe, welcoming 17th-ranked Virginia Tech to Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

• During the opening weekend of ACC action, the Hurricanes took two-of-three from then-No. 19 NC State.

• Miami leads the all-time series over the Hokies, 39-12, boasting a 20-4 mark in Coral Gables.

• Under fifth-year skipper Gino DiMare, the Hurricanes have posted the best conference winning percentage (.624) in the ACC since 2019.

• Miami sophomore right-handed hurler Karson Ligon (2-0, 3.96 ERA) draws the start in the series opener, opposing Virginia Tech junior righty Griffin Green (0-1, 7.79 ERA).

• Across his first four starts, Ligon paces the Hurricanes innings (25.0) and opponent batting average (.187), while tallying the second-best ERA among qualified pitchers.

CARDIAC CANES COMEBACK

• The Hurricanes picked up their third win in their last four games, rallying for four runs in the ninth to best FIU, 7-3, Wednesday evening.

• Sophomore outfielder Edgardo Villegas delivered the game-winning double, before junior outfielder Jacoby Long capped off the frame with a two-run blast.

• Fourth-year junior catcher Jack Scanlon shined in the victory, smacking his first homer of the season, as part of his first multi-hit and multi-RBI effort as a Hurricane.

• Southpaw Chris Scinta and right-handers Carlos Lequerica and Alejandro Torres combined to toss 4 1/3 scoreless out of the bullpen.

• Lequerica, who played last season for the Panthers, earned his first win in the orange and green.

MIAMI MASHERS

• As of March 16, the Hurricanes are tied for 13th nationally with 35 home runs.

• Miami has circled the bases in 14 of its 17 games, totaling 11 multi-homer performances along the way.

• The Hurricanes are on pace for 113 homers during the regular season, which would rank as the second-most by a Miami team in a single season.

• Thirteen different Hurricanes have left the yard, with  juniors Ian Farrow and Yohandy Morales and freshman Blake Cyr  blasting a co-team best five round-trippers.
