Georgia Tech Renews Rivalry with Georgia this Weekend – Baseball — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets


• Georgia Tech baseball continues its sludge of top-20 road opponents with No. 2 Louisville on March 17-19.

• Georgia Tech is 7-10 against the Cardinals since first playing them in 1976. Georgia Tech has taken the last two series (2019 in Louisville, 2021 in Atlanta).

• Tech has also played Louisville two-straight years in the ACC Tournament, winning both, including a 12-inning walkoff in 2021.

• Georgia Tech has looked just as potent at the plate as in years’ past, hitting .312 through 17 games for 78 extra-base hits and 27 home runs.

• Five Jackets are hitting .300 or better, led by two-way talent Jake DeLeo (.449) and Jackson Finley (.426) .

• Also hitting .300 are Jack Rubenstein (.390), Angelo Dispigna (.358), and Stephen Reid (.314).

• DeLeo has been a machine at the plate, only failing to register a hit in one game this season.

• He’s had multiple hits in four of the last five games, including five against No. 18 Auburn on Tuesday where he mashed two doubles.

• Also rising out of his early season slump is Stephen read who has raised his average by 64 points since March 10.

• He had two hits in the first doubleheader game against Notre Dame on March 11, then three hits in the second game before mashing four hits (two doubles) against No. 18 Auburn on March 14.

• Finley was once again one of the top two-way players in the country, hitting .500 last week with three doubles and a home run, while also allowing just one run on three hits in 4.2 innings against Notre Dame to sport a 1.53 ERA.
