Kiké Hernandez is doing a little bit of everything for Puerto Rico in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

The Boston Red Sox shortstop is playing center field for his country in the tournament and he flashed the leather in Friday’s quarterfinals showdown vs. Mexico. With Puerto Rico leading 4-1 in the fourth inning, Hernandez robbed Joey Meneses of a hit with a beautiful diving catch.

That’s a familiar sight for Red Sox fans who have watched Hernandez patrol center field for the last two seasons.

Hernandez has been getting the job done at the plate for Puerto Rico as well. The 31-year-old entered Friday’s action hitting .333/.429/.444 with four RBI in five games.

The winner of Puerto Rico vs. Mexico will meet Japan in the semifinal.
