COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 22 Maryland beat North Dakota, 9-4, in their first home game of the season. The red hot Terps have now won 11 games in a row, dating back to the Baylor Tournament on Feb. 26. The team is 20-4 on the season.
Kyra Pittman had a solid start in the circle, tossing a complete game.
Amelia Lech’s two-run homer spearheaded an offensive rally in the third. The Terps finished the game with an impressive 16 total hits.
Breaking Down The Action
- North Dakota scored two in the first inning off of a fielder’s choice and a double.
- Maryland answered in the second stanza with a run. Sammi Woods drove in Michaela Jones from second with an RBI double off the wall.
- A two-run bomber from Lech put the Terps in the lead in the third. Lech’s park-leaving shot knocked in Kiley Goff. Maryland tacked on four more runs in the inning, bringing the score to 7-2.
- The Terps added two more runs in the eighth with RBI doubles by Lech and Campbell Kline to score Goff and pinch runner Kamryn Davis, respectively.
- North Dakota added two runs in the sixth with an RBI double and a fielder’s choice.
