Tennessee softball shuts out LSU for 17th consecutive win

Lady Vols softball earn its fifth consecutive shutout.

No. 5 Tennessee (22-1, 4-0 SEC) defeated No. 12 LSU (23-3, 2-2 SEC), 5-0, Friday at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Tennessee ended a scoreless tie in the third inning, scoring four runs. Katie Taylor hit a two-run home run and Mackenzie Donihoo scored on a wild pitch, extending Tennessee’s lead to 3-0.

In the seventh inning, Lair Beautae hit a RBI single, scoring Jamison Brockenbrough with the final run of the contest.

Brockenbrough recorded two hits and two runs for Tennessee.

The win is Tennessee’s 17th consecutive.

Ashley Rogers (8-0) pitched a two-hit shutout for the Lady Vols. She surrendered three walks and recorded nine strikeouts.
