OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Two ranked wins, two seventh inning comebacks, a number of pitching gems and a battle with the No. 1 team in the nation headlined the Wildcats final non-conference road trip of the regular season.
Weekend Recap:
Northwestern capped off an impressive 4-1 showing at the OMNI Hall of Fame Classic in Oklahoma City with an improbable six-run rally, all with two outs, en route to a 6-4 win over Weber State. Trailing 4-0 entering the top of the seventh, Kendall Peterson jumpstarted the rally with a two-out pinch hit double to drive in a pair. The ‘Cats proceeded to cut the lead to one and load the bases for Jordyn Rudd. Rudd came through with a bases-clearing three-RBI double to put the ‘Cats on top for good, 6-4.
One game prior, Rudd was also the hero for the Wildcats as she hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in her and Maeve Nelson in a 6-5 win over #19 Auburn. Trailing at one point, 5-2, the Wildcats clawed their way back with a two-run home run by Emmie Farnam, her first of the season, before Rudd delivered the dagger in the seventh.
A trio of pitching gems were the story of the Wildcats first three games in Oklahoma City. In their Friday opener, Danielle Williams tossed a complete game while allowing just one run in a 2-1 win over #19 Auburn, the first of two wins over the ranked Tigers throughout the weekend.
