GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Missouri Softball program (19-11, 1-5 SEC) fell to No. 8/11 Florida (22-5, 2-1 SEC), 4-3, in the series finale Sunday afternoon at the Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium.
The Tigers grabbed a 3-2 lead after a RBI groundout from Payton Jackson in the top of the sixth before Florida walked it off in the bottom of the seventh.
Skylar Wallace singled to center to even the contest at 3-3 and would come around to score on a wild pitch to complete the Gators comeback.
The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI bases loaded walk from Chantice Phillips. Jenna Laird opened with a leadoff single before consecutive walks to Kara Daly and Julia Crenshaw filled the basepaths with Tigers.
Crenshaw then blasted a solo shot to left in the third to increase the Mizzou lead to 2-0. For Crenshaw, a sophomore from O’Fallon, Missouri, the homer was her seventh of the campaign (first career SEC home run).
The Gators would then even the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth. Pal Egan tallied a RBI groundout before an Avery Goelz RBI base hit.
GAME NOTES
- Jenna Laird (2-for-4) and Riley Frizell (2-for-3) each had two hits Sunday.
- With the pair of hits, Jenna Laird extended her hitting streak to four games.
- The multi-hit game was Jenna Laird’s 15th of the season while it was the fifth multi-hit game for Riley Frizell in 2023.
