Tennessee Lady Vols softball defeats LSU, win 18th consecutive game

No. 5 Tennessee (23-1, 5-0 SEC) defeated No. 12 LSU (23-4, 2-3 SEC), 3-0. Saturday at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Lady Vols scored the game’s three runs in the first inning.

Zaida Puni hit a two-run home run and Rylie West recorded an RBI double.

Tennessee had seven hits against the Tigers en route to winning its 18th consecutive game and second straight SEC series.

Puni, West and Lair Beautae each had two hits for the Lady Vols.

Three-time SEC Freshman of the Week Karlyn Pickens pitched a one-hit shutout for Tennessee.

Pickens (5-1) recorded nine strikeouts, zero runs, two walks against 24 batters in seven innings.
