Aggies take a dip in newest D1Baseball Rankings

It’s been a rocky season so far for the Texas A&M Aggies baseball squad who are currently 14-6 on the season, recently dropping their opening SEC series against the No.1 ranked LSU Tigers this weekend, but did manage to notch an impressive 8-6 victory in Game 3 on Sunday afternoon to finish 7-2 on the week.

Even after winning eight in a row from Saturday, March 4th to Tuesday, March 14th, their two questionable losses to LSU to the tune of 9-0 in Game 1, and 12-7 in Game 2 had led to future changes to the lineup, specifically moves in the starting pitching rotation. After being ranked 15th in D1Baseball.com’s Top 25 rankings last week, the Aggies took quite the nose dive in this week’s rankings, falling six spots to No. 21 this week.

Even though the Aggies’ struggled against the Tigers early on, Freshman pitcher Justin Lampkin’s relief pitching (4.1 IN, 4 H, 5 SO) and Junior Stanley Tucker’s game-winning double (2 H, 2 RBI) provided multiple bright spots heading into a new week.

Texas A&M will host the Rice Owls in a midweek match-up at Blue Bell Park on March 21st at 6 pm.
