Noting ACC Baseball  – March 21

• Wake Forest, Louisville and Virginia enter the week as consensus top-10 teams, with none ranked lower than ninth in any national poll. Wake Forest continues to be ranked as high as No. 2 by USA Today Coaches and D1Baseball.  Louisville is ranked No. 2 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 3 by Baseball America. Virginia is ranked as high as No. 5 by Collegiate Baseball.

• Miami turned heads last weekend with a three-game sweep of then-No. 15 Virginia Tech. The Hurricanes took over the top spot in the still-early Coastal Division standings at 5-1, one game ahead of second-place Virginia. First baseman CJ Kayfus, who keyed the Hurricanes offensively and was voted the ACC Player of the Week, has also been named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game/Rawlings.

• The busy non-conference midweek non-conference schedule resumes today with 11 games set for Tuesday and eight more for Wednesday. Included is Florida State’s home game against top-five Florida on Tuesday night (7 p.m., ESPN) and the home openers for Boston College and Notre Dame. ACC teams currently own a 153-42 record against non-conference opposition (.785), including a 112-18 record in home games.

• The renewal of the Duke-North Carolina rivalry begins Thursday evening in Chapel Hill. The best-of-three series opener will be the second of eight conference games that ACC Network will feature on Thursday nights throughout the spring, with all eight contests being conference matchups. Upcoming games following this week include Wake Forest at Clemson (March 30, 7 p.m.), Clemson at Florida State (April 6, 8 p.m.), Miami at North Carolina (April 13, 7 p.m.), Miami at Louisville (April 27, 7 p.m.), NC State at Notre Dame (May 4, 7 p.m.) and Florida State at Louisville (May 18, 7 p.m.). In addition to the Thursday games, ACCN coverage in 2023 will be highlighted by all four days of pool play and the semifinals of the ACC Baseball Championship May 23-28 from Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C. ESPN2 will televise the title game on Sunday, May 28.
