TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Hosting the No. 1 ranked team for the first time in five years, Florida State could not cross the plate in Wake Forest’s 10-0 win Friday night at Dick Howser Stadium. Delayed an hour due to lightning, the game was played in a light drizzle for much of the night.

Wake Forest starter Rhett Lowder improved to 11-0 with seven shutout innings. FSU managed just four hits against the projected first round pick, lowering his season ERA to 1.52.

The Demon Deacons scored two runs in the second inning against Jackson Baumeister before a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Brennen Oxford pitched 2.2 innings against his former team, allowing just one run on one hit. He has allowed only three hits and a run over his last six appearances, spanning 9.2 innings.

Wake Forest tacked on four runs in the eighth inning for the run-rule victory.

  • DeAmez Ross led of the first inning with a single, extending his hitting streak to a career-long 11 games. He is (19-for-42) in that span, and his average has risen from .216 to .288.
  • Ross’s 11-game hitting streak is the longest for a Seminole freshman since Elijah Cabell also had an 11-game streak in 2019.
  • Treyton Rank singled to begin the second inning, pushing his hitting streak to a career-best eight games. With two hits Friday, his average has jumped from .252 to .301 during his 15-for-31 stretch. He was the only Seminole with multiple hits against the Demon Deacons and has 12 multi-hit games.
