Five Lady Vols Named CSC Academic All-District


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – McKenna Gibson, Giulia Koutsoyanopulos, Kiki Milloy, Ashley Rogers and Nicola Simpson were each named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The CSC recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
A sophomore infielder from Santa Clarita, California, Gibson earns her first Academic All-District nod. In the classroom, she is studying sociology with a concentration in criminology and criminal justice and is also minoring in psychology. Her second academic honor, Gibson earned SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll last season.
 
On the field, the first baseman had a breakout season hitting .380 with 15 home runs and a team-leading 57 RBIs. She was named All-SEC First Team for her performance on the diamond.
 
Koutsoyanopulos is a first-time CSC Academic All-District honoree in her first season with the Big Orange after joining the program as a transfer in the summer. The left-handed catcher graduated from Arizona in just two years and is pursuing a Master’s in English with a concentration in literature, criticism and textual studies.
 
A Mission, Viejo, California, native, Koutsoyanopulos had never played behind the plate before joining the Lady Vols but has made the move to catcher seamlessly. Starting 50 games this season, she has hit three home runs and driven in 33 RBIs.
 
Named a University of Tennessee Torchbearer – the highest student honor conferred by the university – Milloy has garnered CSC All-District honors for the second time in her career. Last season, she earned Academic All-America Second Team accolades following her all-district nomination.
 
The Woodinville, Washington, native has also been named an Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete on two occasions.
 
Tabbed All-SEC First Team this season, Milloy leads the nation in home runs with 23. The mark is a career-high for the senior outfielder and is also a single-season school record. Additionally, she ranks among the nation’s best in batting average (.421), runs scored (74), slugging percentage (.966) and stolen bases (34).
 
The SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Rogers has garnered CSC Academic All-District for the third time in her career – she is also a two-time Academic All-American.
