RailRiders announce front office promotions and new hires

WHO’S ON FIRST -The RailRiders have had six different first basemen this season. Billy McKinney leads the way with fourteen starts, while Andres Chaparro has made eleven starts there. Mickey Gasper and Jake Bauers have also played their hands at first base this season. Last night, Rodolfo Duran played his first ever professional contest in the corner infield position. Every defensive player at first, except Gasper, has made at least one error in the position. Yesterday, Carlos Narvaez, in just his third Triple-A contest, got his initial start at first.

HOMESTAND HEROICS- The RailRiders recorded both their first and second walk-off victories of the season twice against the Omaha Storm Chasers last week. At PNC Field, fans got to see a pair of walk-off homers, one from Michael Hermosillo and the other from Ben Rortvedt, to rally victories in the bottom of the ninth. After spending back-to-back weeks at home, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre went 7-5 on the homestand.

FIELDING FAUX PAS- With one miscue last night, the RailRiders totalled 43 errors on the season as a team. This puts them first in the Triple-A in this category and tied for 11th in all of Minor League Baseball. Andres Chaparro has nine, seven at third base and two at first. The team has one game with five miscues committed. SWB has had 12 error-free games.

DURAN DIMES- Catcher Rodolfo Duran has been showing off his arm behind the plate this season. He’s caught six runners trying to steal for a 35% caught stealing clip. Duran nabbed 16 runners last season for the Somerset Patriots. He has played in 14 games behind the plate and one game at first this season for SWB.

PERAZA REHAB -Oswald Peraza joined the RailRiders for a rehab assignment on Sunday to end the series against Omaha. He launched his first Triple-A home run of the season and looked good at short stop. Peraza was recalled by New York and played in 12 big league games. He recorded six hits before being placed on the 10-day Injured List with a right ankle sprain on May 9. Peraza is set to continue his rehab assignment as the team travels to Charlotte.

BULLPEN BLAST- The bullpen has given the RailRiders some strong ending innings this season….
