Joyce Named to SEC Baseball Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee pitcher Zach Joyce was tabbed to the 2023 SEC Community Service Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

Joyce is among the team leaders in community service hours logged this year on top of being a standout in the classroom with a 3.31 GPA while majoring in supply chain management.

The Knoxville native has volunteered at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, where he spent time playing with children dealing with serious illnesses, as well as Lonsdale Elementary School, helping with physical education classes. Joyce has also spent time volunteering at the Knoxville Museum of Art and UT Baseball’s Day of Service.

In his first season with the Vols after spending two years away from baseball to focus on his mental health, the junior right hander has made 13 appearances and struck out 17 batters in 10.1 innings pitched out of the bullpen. Joyce recorded his first-career win in Tuesday night’s midweek victory over Belmont.
