Anzaldo Homer Not Enough – California Golden Bears Athletics

Hofstra

NORMAN, Okla. – Tatum Anzaldo hit a solo homer but it wasn’t enough for the California softball team in a 5-1 loss to Missouri in the Norman Regional opener on Friday.

The Golden Bears (33-20-1) got two hits from Kacey Zobac in the loss. Jenna Laird went 4-for-4 to lead the Tigers (35-24).

Mizzou jumped in front early with a 2-run home run off the bat of Alex Honnold in the first, digging a hole for the Bears right away. Anzaldo tried to rally back in the home half with a laser of a home run over the wall in left in the fourth pitch she saw.

Zobac recorded her 13th double of the season in the fourth with two down and a 3-1 deficit, but a strikeout ended the Cal threat. The Tigers added two insurance runs in the seventh and Cal was unable to get anything going in the bottom half.
