Skaggs Named Rawlings Gold Glove Winner


TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona softball second baseman Allie Skaggs has earned the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, announced by the NFCA on Wednesday.
 
The 2023 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Skaggs committed zero errors in 168 chances this season – the best fielding percentage by a second baseman in Arizona Softball history – and led Arizona with 77 assists. Skaggs also made an impact at the plate, hitting 14 home runs and totaling 64 RBI while batting .333.
 
Skaggs becomes the first Arizona Softball player to earn the Gold Glove Award as a collegiate athlete; Chelsea Goodacre won the award with the USSSA Pride in 2017.
 
The Pac-12 has Gold Glove winners this season, the most of any conference. The ACC follows with two winners and the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Big South each have one winner.
