TUCSON, Ariz. –Allie Skaggs was named a CSC first-team Academic All-American, the association announced on Tuesday.
Skaggs, a journalism major with a 3.96 GPA, is receiving her first Academic All-America honor. The second baseman was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Pac-12 after recording a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 168 chances this season. In addition, Skaggs ranks 19th in Arizona history with 43 career home runs.
Last week, Skaggs earned the Rawlings Gold Glove at second base for her perfect season. She became the first collegiate Gold Glove winner in Arizona Softball history.
