Softball Continues to Build Roster with Additions of Denby and Hall

TEMPE – Sun Devil Softball added two more transfers to the roster with the signings of Alesia Denby and Kelsey Hall, head coach Megan Bartlett announced on Tuesday. Both are grad transfers joining from programs in the Mountain West Conference.

Hall joins the Maroon and Gold from Boise State, where she was the 2023 Mountain West Player of the Year. The Sacramento, Calif. native posted a 1.358 OPS with 12 doubles, 11 home runs, 52 RBIs and 39 runs last season for the Broncos. Her season included 11 multi-hit games and a 12-game stretch where she went 24-for-34 (.706) with 10 home runs and six doubles.

Hall batted .389 with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs while being named one of the MW All-Conference Teams and NFCA All-Region in each of her two seasons in Boise. She spent her first two seasons at Fresno State, following her prep career at Bella Vista HS, where she batted .447 with 24 home runs and 128 RBI in 105 games.

Denby comes to Arizona State after four seasons at Fresno State, where she earned Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-MW and NFCA All-Region honors this past season. She batted .314 with a 1.036 OPS, 10 home runs, 11 doubles, five triples, 31 RBIs, 39 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in the Bulldogs’ spring campaign.

Denby – from Murrieta, Calif. – started all 183 games she played at Fresno, including the last 158 as the Bulldogs’ shortstop. She is a career .277 hitter with a .876 OPS, 22 home runs, 30 doubles, 11 triples and 94 RBIs. She prepped at Vista Murrieta HS and hit .534 with nine home runs and 24 RBIs in just 58 at-bats as a senior.

These additions bring the total to seven newcomers set to join the Sun Devils for the upcoming season. That includes four transfers and three freshmen. ASU will also return Pac-12 home run leader Jordyn VanHook and pitcher Marissa Schuld for their final seasons.
