Mik Anthony Latest Addition for MSU Softball

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State head softball coach Sharonda McDonald-Kelley announced the addition of infielder Mik Anthony on Wednesday. Anthony joins the Spartans after a junior college season at Salt Lake Community College in 2023.

“Mik is a versatile athlete with the ability to play anywhere on defense,” said McDonald-Kelley. “She can hit for power and run. She is a multi-tool athlete that will make a great addition to our team.”

A Second Team All-Region 18 selection in 2023, Anthony helped the Bruins to a runner-up finish in the Region 18 championship game last season after hitting .454 along with a .502 on-base percentage, a .868 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.370. Anthony was third on the team in home runs with 15 and drove in 69 runners. Her 21 doubles paced the team, while her 79 total hits ranked third. Anthony drew 19 walks as opposed to just seven strikeouts in 54 starts for SLCC.

Anthony earned Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors on April 10, leading then No. 12-ranked SLCC to a 3-1 week against USU Eastern where she hit .538 for the series with three home runs. SLCC finished the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 42-12 along with a 34-5 mark in conference play. Prior to joining SLCC, Anthony spent one season at Boise State where she redshirted.

A native of Vancouver, Wash., Anthony was a three-time Greater St. Helens League first team selection while playing for Skyview High School.

Anthony is the seventh newcomer for the Spartans entering 2023-24, joining freshmen Payton Conroy, Jaeya Butler, Ava Mullen and Makayla Huddleston, and incoming transfers Alexis Ross and Olivia Grey.
