EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State head softball coach Sharonda McDonald-Kelley announced the addition of first basemen Kaelin Cash on Wednesday. Cash joins the Spartans after playing two seasons at Saint Joseph’s where she was a two-year starter.
“Kaelin brings a big powerful bat to our lineup,” said McDonald-Kelley. I am excited about the presence she will bring to our lineup with her ability to hit the long ball. She will be a great addition to the Green and White!”
A First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection as a sophomore in 2023, Cash led Saint Joseph’s in batting average (.374), hits (49), home runs (12), RBI (29), on-base percentage (.503), slugging percentage (.702) and walks (28). Her 12 home runs ranks third in program history for a single season. Cash posted a 1.205 OPS for the Hawks, .452 points higher than the next qualified batter in the lineup.
Following the 2023 season, Cash was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Region First Team.
Her slugging and OPS each led the A-10 where she tied for the conference lead in home runs, where she was named A-10 Player of the Week on February 28. Cash was a member of the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team in 2023 and the All-Rookie squad as a freshman in 2022 after earning A-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice.
Standing at 5-7, Cash is a native of Greenwood, Ind. where she played at Roncalli High School.
Cash is the eighth newcomer for the Spartans entering 2023-24, joining freshmen Payton Conroy, Jaeya Butler, Ava Mullen and Makayla Huddleston, and incoming transfers Alexis Ross, Olivia Grey and Mik Anthony.
