Washington Softball Signs Alyssa Popelka


SEATTLE – Washington softball head coach Heather Tarr announced the signing of Texas transfer Alyssa Popelka on Monday.
 
In four seasons at Texas, Popelka played in 161 with 79 starts and helped the Longhorns to three consecutive Super Regional appearances and a Women’s College World Series berth. Last season, she was one of three Texas softball student-athletes to make at least one start at each outfield position while averaging .361 with a .403 on base percentage and 29 runs scored. Popelka recorded 44 stolen bases including a career-high 16 in 2022.
 
Prior to her time with the Longhorns, Popelka played travel ball with the Wildthings, Texas Stix and Texas Premier Fastpitch Gold. In 2019 she was a PGF High School All-American and participate in PGF Premier Nationals.
 
Popelka joins transfers Haley Winckler and Jillian Celis along with four freshman Giselle Alvarez, Jing Gardner, Jadyn Glab and Sidne Peters as part of Washington’s incoming class.
