Softball announces Megan White as new director of player development and technology

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech softball and head coach Pete D’Amour announced the addition of Megan White as the new Director of Player Development and Technology. She will oversee the team’s analytics, statistics and data, as well administrative and recruiting support for the program.

“It’s been my vision to have a Director of Player Development and Technology for a couple of years now. It’s extremely rare to find an analytics director for a Division I softball program that played collegiate softball but fortunately for us, Megan had all of the qualifications we were looking for,” D’Amour said.

“Not only is she well versed in analyzing data for scouting and player development purposes, she also had a distinguished career as a player at Elon. Her experience playing for Coach Bocock will bring a new perspective to our program. As an added bonus, Megan comes from a Hokie family, she understands how special Blacksburg is. I’d like to thank our administration and donors for helping us create this position. Go Hokies!”

White joins the Hokies after spending a year as a programmer at Stat One LLC, where she created client requested graphics, including tables, listings and figures, using clinical trial data and Stat One company macros, in addition to other coding methods. She also participated in data management programming and validation to organize and import client data to conform to ADaM and SDTM standards.

In addition to her experience with Stat One, White also spent a season with the Carolina Wolves Collegiate Summer Baseball Team, where she served as the Data Analyst and Softball Integration Specialist. She participated in the player development process, while gathering, managing and interpreting data through the use of Game Changer, Blast Motion and Pitch Logic technology.

While with the Wolves, White collaborated with coaches and players to translate data and analyze developmental progress towards individual goals. She also supported the creation of player portfolios to highlight player development and assist in recruitment efforts.

A four-year letterwinner at Elon, White appeared in 121 games for the Phoenix, recording 68 hits, including 13 doubles and 16 home runs. She finished her career with a .516 slugging percentage and 58 RBI.
