Bryce Jarvis to Deliver Keynote Speech at First Pitch Banquet


DURHAM – Former Duke right-handed pitcher and the 18th overall selection in the 2020 MLB Entry Draft, Bryce Jarvis, will deliver the keynote speech for the 12th annual First Pitch Banquet on Feb. 3, 2024.
 
Jarvis was one of two former Duke Blue Devils to make their major league debut last season, joining Matt Mervis of the Chicago Cubs.
 
The Franklin, Tenn., native appeared in 25 games (19 starts) at both the double-A and triple-A levels in 2023, before being elevated to the major league club on Aug. 8. The right-hander posted a 9-5 record on the mound during that stretch, working 102.2 inning and punching out 110 batters.
 
Jarvis became the 13th All-American in program history following the 2020 season, while tossing the 31st perfect game in NCAA Division I history on Feb. 21 against Cornell. During his time at Duke, Jarvis collected a 13-4 record on the bump, appearing in 48 games for the Blue Devils with 20 starts. He worked over 150 innings during his career, tallying 201 strikeouts and posting a 2.81 ERA.

Duke opens the 2024 season on Feb. 16-18 at the Baseball at the Beach tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina. The Blue Devils will face Indiana, George Mason and Coastal Carolina at Spring Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.
