Clement 'fear factor' fuelling Rangers

Philippe Clement’s players being a “wee bit scared” of him could be the secret behind their success so far during his tenure.

That’s according to former Rangers winger Jamie Murphy, who told the Scottish Football Podcast just how impressed he’s been with the Belgian’s time at Ibrox.

“Rangers have been doing really well,” the ex-Scotland international said.

“Another win against St Johnstone the other night. They’re in good form, but as you said there’s a few injuries. It depends what kind of team they’re able to put out.

“He’s done brilliantly since coming in. Obviously, I’m not in there behind the scenes, but you know, you can see it when you listen to his interviews, when you see him on the side of the pitch, giving instructions. He feels like that real authority figure.

“I’m not saying players didn’t respect the previous managers before, but he’s just got that something about him where you look at him and you know people are listening to him – that little bit of fear factor. Maybe people are a wee bit scared of him, which always helps.
