Hines Named Preseason All-American by Perfect Game


CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – On Thursday, Perfect Game announced its Preseason All-American teams, and Hunter Hines earned Third Team honors.

During the 2023 season, Hines led the team in home runs (22) and RBIs (61). He hit .297 and is the first player at MSU to hit 20 or more homers in a single season since Brent Rooker hit 23 during the 2017 season.
 
His 22 home runs ranked 22nd in the nation and tied for the sixth-most in school history. He had 17 multi-hit games this season, the most on the team. Hines also led the team with a .683 slugging percentage and was second with 60 hits.
 
In his two years wearing the Maroon and White, Hines has hit 38 home runs – the 10th most in a career at Mississippi State – while posting a .299 batting average. He has driven in 113 runs in 108 games for the Dawgs.
 
He was a First Team All-SEC selection in 2023 and was a ABCA South All-Region honoree.
   
The 2024 season gets underway on Feb. 16 when the Diamond Dawgs host Air Force in a three-game series at Dudy Noble Field.
 
Mississippi State’s 56-game schedule features 35 home games, 17 road contests, and four neutral-site matchups. The schedule features a 12-game homestand to open the campaign (Feb. 16 – March 2). And a five-game homestand from April 2-9.
