Baseball America released its list of the top 10 transfers heading into this season, and there is one LSU Tiger that made the list. Luke Holman, a right-handed pitcher who transferred to Baton Rouge from Alabama was listed as the No. 8 player in the top 10.
Holman served as the ace for the Alabama Crimson Tide last season and he was slated to start Game 1 against the Tigers at The Box, but then the gambling debacle happened and Holman was scratched from starting. That led to former Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon being fired and Holman entering the transfer portal.
Holman finished 2023 with a 7-4 record and a 3.67 ERA in 81 innings pitched. He struck out 87 hitters and opposing batters had a season batting average of .186 against him.
Holman will be a starter for the defending national champion LSU Tigers this spring. Where he is in the rotation remains to be seen as Thatcher Hurd returns after a stellar end to the 2023 season.
