Alabama baseball rallies from early 4-0 deficit to beat UAB in extras

It may have taken extra innings, but Alabama baseball got the job done late Wednesday evening as they knocked off in-state foe UAB to improve to 10-0 on the season. The Tide picked up a series sweep of Valparaiso over the weekend, but after having just Monday off they were back in action today. Alabama looked sluggish out of the gate as the Blazers rushed out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, but from the fifth inning on the momentum was with the Crimson Tide as they put all nine runs on the board after falling behind early.

Alabama took a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Joe Watkins was able to score for UAB on a groundout to force the game to extra innings. The Crimson Tide bats were hot in extras as they brought in three runs, one off of a wild pitch. The ‘Bama defense was able to get the job done in the bottom of the 10th surrendering just one run to escape Birmingham with a 9-7 victory.

Alabama baseball will face their stiffest competition of the year so far this weekend when they travel to Frisco, TX to take on Arizona, Indiana and Dallas Baptist.
