Junior Hit .500 With Two Home Runs And Three Doubles Last Week

BERKELEY – California infielder Acacia Anders was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday after a standout weekend during the Golden Bears’ series win over No. 21 Arizona at Levine-Fricke Field.

Anders hit .500 (8-for-16) for the week, collecting two home runs and three doubles to go with six RBI. Her 2-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning on Saturday ignited No. 19 Cal’s comeback from five runs down to take a 7-6 win in nine innings.

The Vacaville native hit another 2-run shot in the sixth inning on Sunday, extending Cal’s lead to 8-4 as the Bears hung on for an 8-7 victory to secure the series. Anders scored five runs and tallied a .529 on base percentage with a 1.063 slugging percentage.

Anders is the second Cal player to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week honors this season after Elon Butler earned the recognition on Feb. 19. The last Golden Bear to take the weekly honor before this season was Lindsay Rood on March 12, 2019. This is the 96th Player of the Week honor in school history and second conference weekly honor for Anders, after she earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors on March 21, 2022.
